On January 20, 2026, an information day for the RIFF project (Research Infrastructure for Future), which includes institutions of the NAS of Ukraine, will take place in Kharkiv.
The RIFF project is aimed at updating and modernizing the research and innovation (R&I) system in Ukraine by forming a modern, forward-looking vision for the development of national research infrastructure (RI). A key outcome of the project is the development of the "Roadmap for the Recovery and Development of Ukraine's Research Infrastructure," which is based on the ESFRI expert assessment methodology and takes into account the priorities of the green and digital transition. Activities within the RIFF project are focused on enhancing scientific excellence, stimulating innovation, and developing cooperation among academic, industrial, and other interested parties.
The information day in Kharkiv is part of a series of "RIFF Information Days" held in various cities across Ukraine, playing an important role in uniting scientific, industrial, and administrative communities, exchanging knowledge, and defining future strategic priorities for the development of research infrastructure in Ukraine.
Objectives of the information days:
- to present the European approach to understanding and developing research infrastructure;
- to inform about the opportunities that the RIFF project opens for Ukrainian research infrastructure;
- to strengthen ties between Ukrainian researchers, RI managers, and the European community.
The event is aimed at scientists, heads and managers of scientific institutions, laboratories, and research infrastructure, as well as representatives of authorities and specialists involved in science and innovation policy-making.
During the information day, participants will be able to:
- receive a comprehensive overview of the RIFF project (its goals and main areas of activity);
- learn how to join the project’s initiatives;
- familiarize themselves with the European approach to the development of research infrastructure;
- establish contacts with representatives of the research infrastructure community of Ukraine and the EU;
- gain access to opportunities for participation in training programs, mobility, and knowledge exchange with European research infrastructure.
