Structure

The NAS of Ukraine operates 3 sections (physical-technical and mathematical sciences; chemical and biological sciences; social and humanitarian sciences), which unite 14 departments: mathematics; informatics; mechanics and machine science; physics and astronomy; earth sciences; materials science; energy and energy technologies; nuclear physics and energy; chemistry; biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology; general biology; economics; history, philosophy and law; literature, language and art studies. The Academy has 5 regional scientific centers under dual subordination with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine: Donetsk (Pokrovsk), Western (Lviv), Southern (Odesa), Northeastern (Kharkiv), Dnipro (Dnipropetrovsk), as well as the Center for Evaluation of Scientific Institutions' Activities and Scientific Support for Regional Development (Kyiv). The statutory activity of the Crimean Scientific Center and its funding from the NAS of Ukraine budget were suspended in 2014. The main structural units of the NAS of Ukraine are research institutes and other scientific institutions (observatories, botanical gardens, dendroparks, reserves, libraries, museums, etc.). The NAS of Ukraine structure includes national institutions – the V.I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, the National Scientific Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology," the National Historical and Archaeological Reserve "Olvia," the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden, the "Sofiyivka" National Dendrological Park, the National Museum of Natural History, the V. Stefanyk Lviv National Scientific Library of Ukraine, the National Center "Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine." The NAS of Ukraine structure also includes enterprises of the research and production base (research enterprises, design and technological organizations, scientific and engineering centers). Currently, the NAS of Ukraine operates 160 scientific institutions and 43 enterprises of the research and production base.
