Scientific centers of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

In the Academy there are 5 regional scientific centers of dual subordination with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The statutory activities of the Crimean Scientific Center and its funding from the budget of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were suspended in 2014.

Donetsk Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine and the MES of Ukraine

Founded in 1965 as a public organization. Became a scientific institution of the NAS of Ukraine in 1991.

Main scientific areas of activity:

  • structural restructuring and improving the efficiency of the fuel and energy, metallurgical, chemical, machine-building, and agro-industrial complexes of the Donetsk region;
  • health improvement of people and rational use of the natural resource potential of Donbas;
  • environmental and technological safety of coal mining;
  • development of scientific foundations for the creation of energy-saving technologies and advanced materials, methods of their processing;
  • implementation of scientific and technical developments at defense industry enterprises;
  • economic support for scientific, technological, and innovative development;
  • ensuring maximum involvement of investors to increase the efficiency of scientific work and the quality of life of displaced scientists.

Western Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine and the MES of Ukraine

Founded in 1971 as a public organization. It became a scientific institution of the NAS of Ukraine in 1992.

Main scientific areas of activity:

  • implementation of measures for energy and resource conservation, use of local and alternative energy sources, reduction of energy and material intensity of products;
  • technological support for strengthening structural materials, methods of anti-corrosion protection of metal structures to increase their lifespan during long-term operation;
  • rational use of the region's natural raw material resources and environmental protection;
  • development of programs and strategies for the socio-economic development of the region's oblasts, activation of cross-border cooperation and European integration;
  • increasing oil and gas recovery from reservoirs in the Carpathian region, modernization of Ukraine's gas transportation system;
  • study and preservation of the region's artistic monuments, folk crafts, trades, research of socio-humanitarian problems of humans;
  • promotion of the development of the region's scientific and technical potential based on establishing coordination, developing international relations, improving the informatization of scientific institutions, and deepening the system of training highly qualified scientific personnel.

Southern Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine and the MES of Ukraine

Founded in 1971 as a public organization. It became a scientific institution of the NAS of Ukraine in 1991.

Main scientific directions of activity:

  • increasing the role of science in the development and implementation of effective state regional policy in Ukraine, aimed at combining national and regional interests;
  • ensuring the resolution of regional scientific, social, economic, environmental, and other problems by uniting the efforts of scientific institutions, higher education institutions, organizations, and enterprises located in the Southern region of Ukraine.

Northeastern Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine and the MES of Ukraine

Founded in 1971 as a public organization. It became a scientific institution of the NAS of Ukraine in 1988.

Main scientific directions of activity:

  • independent assessment of the processes of economic and scientific-technical development of the region, the state of its economy, the impact of market mechanisms on the socio-economic situation;
  • development and implementation into production of advanced industries developed in the region, primarily the machine-building complex, low-waste and waste-free environmentally clean high-tech technologies;
  • improvement of production and reproduction processes of crops and livestock significant for the region;
  • solving fuel and energy problems based on the use of natural and secondary resources of the region;
  • promoting educational activities in the region, strengthening the influence of scientists on the development of creative forces and raising the intellectual level of the population.

Prydniprovskiy Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine and the MES of Ukraine

Founded in 1971 as a public organization. Became a scientific institution of the NAS of Ukraine in 1990.

Main scientific areas of activity:

  • carrying out activities aimed at enhancing the prestige of scientific work;
  • improving the methodology of training highly qualified personnel;
  • innovative activities;
  • conducting scientific research.

Crimean Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine and the MES of Ukraine

The institution is located in temporarily occupied territory
