Interview with the First Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Volodymyr Horbulin

23.09.2024

What role does Ukraine play in the center of the confrontation between Russia and NATO? What is Ukraine's only chance to withstand? What are the main tasks for Ukraine? These and other questions were answered by the first vice-president of the NAS of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Volodymyr Horbulin in an interview with the "Apostrophe TV" channel.

During the conversation, the scientist talked about his new book, co-authored with journalist and publicist Valentyn Badrak, titled "Russian War Against Ukraine. How to Finally Break the Four-Century Closed Circle," which was recently published by "Bright Books." The foreword was written by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from 2021-2024, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Valeriy Zaluzhnyi.

In the interview, Volodymyr Horbulin emphasized that the only chance in the confrontation with Russia for our state is a developed domestic military-industrial complex, as well as the development of our own military technologies and armaments.

The scientist also addressed the question of what the main tasks of Ukraine are to withstand this war: "Our country is now much stronger than before, and if we cope with the three tasks set out in this book, namely the first task is our mobilization situation; the second is consistency in the supply of weapons to us; the third is the ability to use all the smart people in Ukraine who today can create the most interesting military equipment. In addition, we now need the ability to work jointly with Western companies to create new types of weapons. And the last point is a return to science, because I cannot help but speak about this, as I see how many people conduct their defense research in the institutes of the NAS of Ukraine, and this is serious assistance to our Armed Forces and our military-industrial complex."
