He was born on August 4, 1941, in the village of Chagov, Orativsky district, Vinnytsia region. In 1958, he finished from the 10th form of the Peskivska Secondary School in Borodyanka District, Kyiv region.
In 1958, he entered the geological faculty of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University
. He graduated in 1963 with qualification of geological survey and prospecting of mineral deposits and was sent to work in North Kazakhstan in the city of Kustanay.
Since September 1963 to November 1964, he worked as a petrographist- engineer of the thematic team of the Kustanay Expedition.
In November 1964, he was called to serve in the Soviet Army and was released in December 1965.
In January 1966 he entered the S.I.Subbotin Institute of Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine where he is working at present.
