To date the necessity in highly sensitive, selective, rapid and economical methods of analysis to be used in medical practice is growing. Together with the existing physical-chemical and instrumental methods, novel bioelectronic analytical devices – biosensors, being actively developed in the world over the recent decades, can be applied in the analysis as well. Nowadays, the intense developmental studies and achievements in the field of electrochemical biosensors accelerate a realization of idea on the introduction to the practice the electrochemical biosensors as a successful alternative to the classical methods of analysis. Among the distinctive characteristics of the biosensors are high sensitivity and signal reproducibility, selectivity, satisfactory ranges of the substrates’ determination and detection limits, speed of analysis, ease of use, portability, economic efficiency, possibility for mass production and on-line measurements. A cycle of scientific works “Development and optimization of the biosensor systems for medicine” presents the principles of design, optimization of composition and conditions of immobilization of the bioselective elements of electrochemical monobiosensors and biosensor systems for determination of a series of the human body metabolites. The work brings together the results on the investigations of analytical characteristics of the monobiosensors and biosensor systems for medical use and factors, which determine them, in comparison with the characteristics of the best national and foreign analogues. In addition, the work describes fundamentally new analytical devices based on potentiometric, conductometric and amperometric transducers, and pH-sensitive field effect transistors. A particular place in the cycle belongs to the complex of experimentations on the optimization of the biosensors’ performance in the real samples analysis. The presented developments can be taken as a basis for working off and establishment of industrial production of competitive measuring portable devices for express, integral and selective determination of urea, creatinine, carnitine, ATP, glucose, ammonium, lactate, glutamate, aflatoxins, D-serine, L-arginine, lactose, maltose and other metabolites in medical diagnosis and for the purpose of regular monitoring of level of these compounds in biological fluids during long-term treatment. The results of the work appear in 113 publications, among which 37 papers, including 15 foreign ones with a total impact factor of 43, and 72 abstracts in the collections of conferences. The novelty and competitiveness of technical solutions are protected by 4 patents. The scientific works, which form the cycle, are cited in more than 70 scientific journals.
